The Interview Process
In order to access the Zoom call for your interview, please click here. Links to Zoom calls will be available no later than 48 hours prior to the start of your interview.
At your interview start time, you will be expected to log in to the Zoom call. On joining the call, you will be admitted to a waiting room until the Interview Host is able to start the session. Please ensure that you remain close to your computer during this time.
When the interview host is ready, you will join the Zoom meeting. At this time, only you and the interview host will be present on the call. The Interview Host will check the ID you will have emailed to us and move you to a Holding Room. We will be interviewing up to 4 candidates at a time, so when in the Holding Room you will be able to see other candidates. For this reason, we ask that you only put your first name in your Zoom screen name, although you may be asked to add the first letter of your surname if there are two or more candidates with the same name in your session. You can turn your camera and microphone off while in the Holding Room if you wish, although you are also welcome to take this time to talk to the other candidates.
Once all candidates are in the Holding Room, the Interview Host will join you and complete a quick briefing with you, covering the interview structure as outlined in this document. They will also answer any questions you may have.
Interviews will follow a Multiple Mini Interview format, consisting of five interview stations. These are a style of interview where candidates rotate around a series of stations at which various personal attributes will be assessed. You will have five minutes to answer each question. Due to the timescale, there will be no time for you to ask the interviewer questions at the end of the interview.
The Interview Host will move you between stations during the interview. You will have two minutes between each station before entering the next.
The interview attempts to identify whether a candidate has the personal attributes required to become a Doctor, Dentist, Dental Care Professional or Radiographer of tomorrow. We place great value on the following qualities and we are looking for you to demonstrate these at your interview:
Communication Skills
Decision Making
Impact of illness
Reflection and self-insight
Motivation and Commitment
Integrity and inclusivity
Resilience and Adaptability
Teamwork
There are no right or wrong answers! You are not expected to showcase knowledge of scientific terminology, simply communicate well and give us an insight into your potential.
Interviews will take roughly 55 minutes in total, with 15 minutes at the start of your interview for registration and questions.
